    What's the story

The Mumbai Crime Branch is currently probing a shooting incident that transpired outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence a week ago.

As part of their investigation, police are searching the Tapi River in Surat, Gujarat for the firearm used in the crime.

The incident occurred on April 14 (Sunday) outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments and led to the arrest of two alleged shooters, Sagar Pal (21) and Vicky Gupta (24).

    Confession details

Suspects confessed to disposing of weapon in Tapi

As per an ANI report, during questioning, Pal and Gupta confessed to disposing of the firearm used in the shooting into the Tapi River.

Following this revelation, a team from the Mumbai Crime Branch initiated a search operation in Surat.

Footage of the ongoing search has been shared on X/Twitter by the above-mentioned news agency.

Arrested on April 16, currently, both suspects—Pal and Gupta—remain under police custody until Thursday (April 25).

    Family statement

'It was not a publicity stunt': Arbaaz Khan

Khan's brother, Arbaaz Khan, spoke on behalf of their family expressing shock and distress over the incident in an Instagram post.

He dismissed rumors suggesting it was a publicity stunt or that the family was unaffected.

Arbaaz emphasized, "Some people claiming to be close to our family have been making loose statements...which is not true and these views should not be taken seriously. No member of the Salim Khan family has made any statement regarding this incident to the media."

    Travel update

Salman Khan departed for Dubai amid security concerns

Following the shooting incident, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor left for Dubai under heavy security for a work commitment.

Despite the circumstances, he insisted his team not cancel any of his work engagements.

Meanwhile, a third individual—a 20-year-old man, Rohit Tyagi, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh—has also been detained in Haryana.

He is accused of booking a cab under the name of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from Khan's residence to Bandra Police Station.

    Government response

Was the intention behind the incident to kill Khan?

The alleged shooters were reportedly paid an advance of ₹1 lakh by Anmol Bishnoi—brother of Lawrence, who took responsibility for the whole incident.

An additional ₹3 lakh was promised upon completion.

The duo allegedly aimed to intimidate Khan.

Anmol—currently allegedly residing in Canada—was in contact with the shooters through internet calls.

Police are now working to identify the weapon supplier and have issued a look-out circular for Anmol.
