'Sanju' and others members of 2018's Rs. 100 crore club

    What's the story

Inaugurated by Aamir Khan starrer 'Ghajini' in 2008, Rs. 100 crore club has become a sort of an unofficial benchmark for Bollywood movies to be declared successful.

And if we go by this parameter, 2018 has already proved a blockbuster year.

In six months, seven films have invaded the coveted club. Here's a look at those films.

    'Padmaavat'

This Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was a box office juggernaut

Neither the numerous fringe groups nor the delayed release date could change the fate of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum-opus.

Upon its release on January 25, 'Padmaavat' took the box office by storm. The Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh-Shahid Kapoor starrer became 2018's first film to enter the Rs. 100 crore club.

Its lifetime total stands at a staggering Rs. 302.15 crore.

    'SKTKS'

The surprise entrant in Rs. 100 crore club

Luv Ranjan played around with the theme of 'bromance vs romance' and the cine-goers were floored.

'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' managed to cater to both youngsters and the family audience, which is why it did what it did at the box office.

Starring Kartik Aaryan-Nushrat Bharucha-Sunny Singh, the film raked in an impressive Rs. 108.95 crore.

    'Raid'

Ajay Devgn packed a punch and how

The Raj Kumar Gupta directorial, 'Raid' became the third release of 2018 to hit a century.

Starring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla, 'Raid' did a total business of Rs. 103.07 crore.

The film was inspired by a real-life Income-tax raid that was conducted under the leadership of an upright Indian Revenue Service officer in the 1980s.

    'Baaghi 2'

Tiger-Disha's films did wonders at the box office

As his last two films could not do well, the onus of bringing Tiger Shroff back in the game was on 'Baaghi 2' and it did not disappoint.

The Ahmad Khan directorial set the box office on fire from day one itself.

Featuring Disha Patani as the female lead, 'Baaghi 2' emerged a smash hit with a lifetime total of Rs. 164.38 crore.

    'Raazi'

Bollywood's second woman-centric film to do Rs. 100 crore

The real-life story of an Indian spy who married to a Pakistani military officer resonated with the audience big time.

Ali Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and all the other cast members excelled in their respective characters and the film went on to rake in Rs. 123.47 crore.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, 'Raazi' is still running in the theatres.

    'Race 3'

It rode on Bhai's massive star-power

A Salman Khan film releasing on Eid has to earn at least Rs. 100 crore, no matter what the critics say.

It happened last year with 'Tubelight' and this year it was 'Race 3'.

Despite terrible reviews, the multi-starrer action-thriller stormed into the elite club in three days.

The Remo D'Souza directorial, so far, has earned Rs. 164.79 crore at the box office.

    'Sanju'

Rajkumar Hirani struck the right chords, yet again

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer has been wrecking havoc at the box office since day one.

It did not just emerge as the biggest opening weekend grosser of 2018 but also had the highest single day collection ever for a Bollywood film.

With a splendid Rs. 25.35 crore coming in on Monday, 'Sanju' currently stands at a total of Rs. 145.41 crore.
