    What's the story

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent a legal notice to Priyanka Chopra for unauthorized construction at her office premises in Oshiwara, Mumbai.

In the notice, the civic body has also warned her against the illegal construction in the adjoining commercial space that she has rented out.

    Here's more about it.

    Details

BMC resorted to action after receiving five complaints

Upon receiving complaints from a municipal corporator and other people who visited the Charisma Beauty Spa and Salon, BMC officials went in for a check and found illegal alterations.

They also found violations in the premises of Priyanka's office at Vastu Precinct building.

Therefore, two separate notices have been served to the owner and occupant of both the properties.

    Context

PeeCee has been given month's time to fix illegal alterations

The BMC has asked the Chopra family to remove the unauthorized changes and restore the establishments to their original structures.

As per the notice, the Chopras need to make the required changes within a month's time otherwise the structures will be demolished.

Also, Priyanka has the option of regularizing the alterations by paying a penalty.

    Background

The actor failed to reply to BMC's earlier letter

Speaking to TOI, a senior BMC official stated that they had earlier sent a letter to the Chopras, asking them to regularize the unauthorized changes after paying the penalty, but didn't get any revert.

"This time, we've sent a notice under Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP). If they fail to reply again, we'll demolish the illegal constructions at both the premises," he said.
