Malaika Arora's close friend has denied media reports claiming that the Bollywood actor's stepfather, Anil Mehta, had a conversation with his daughters before his death.
Speaking to a portal on Friday, the friend called these reports "completely fabricated."
Mehta, who was not involved in the entertainment industry, died on Wednesday. Shortly after, reports emerged that Mehta had called both Malaika and younger sister Amrita Arora before the incident.
The 65-year-old apparently told them he was "sick and tired."

Speaking to Times Now, Malaika's friend said, "This is completely fabricated. Malaika or her sister Amrita had no such conversation with their father."
The friend added, "If he had spoken to them, the girls, both very devoted daughters, would have never allowed this to happen."

The friend further said, "This 'sick-and-tired' narrative is sick. Who has given this to the media? I doubt it's the cops."
They added, "Earlier some family member was quoted as saying Malaika's father's death was not suicide. These are serious matters. It is one thing to make up quotes on Deepika and Ranveer's parenthood. But to fabricate quotes on this is to create prejudice in a crime, and that's a serious offense."
