Kim Kardashian may seek to strip Ye of kids' custody

    What's the story

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is reportedly considering a change in her custody agreement with ex-husband, rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West).

The decision comes after Ye released a song featuring their eldest child, North West, without Kardashian's knowledge.

According to TMZ, Kardashian is thinking of asking a judge to strip Ye of his joint legal custody rights over this.

    Custody arrangement

Kardashian and Ye's joint custody agreement under scrutiny

Kardashian and Ye, who finalized their divorce in 2022 after getting married in 2014, had agreed on joint physical and legal custody of their four kids—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

While physical custody hasn't been an issue as Ye seldom sees his kids, the decision-making part is now under the lens.

The couple's divorce agreement states they must attend a private hearing with a judge if there's a conflict regarding their kids.

    Song dispute

Ye's controversial song release sparked conflict

The conflict started when Kardashian learned that Ye was planning to drop a song featuring their 11-year-old daughter and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Despite Kardashian demanding an emergency hearing with their lawyers, mediator, and a judge, Ye skipped the meeting but agreed to not release the track.

However, he went back on his word and dropped the song on X/Twitter a day later, saying men "make the final decision."

    Text exchange

Heated text exchange between Kardashian and Ye

Ye also shared a heated text exchange with Kardashian, where she made it clear she didn't want West involved with the jailed Bad Boy Records mogul.

Ye appeared furious about Kardashian sending him a cease-and-desist letter and trademarking their kids' names—despite it allegedly being a decision they made together.

"I'm never speaking with you again," he apparently texted his ex-wife in the since-deleted upload.

    Trademark dispute

Kardashian's stance on trademarking children's names

On her part, Kardashian claimed they had "agreed" to trademark all their kids' names "when they were born" so that "no one else would take them."

"I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she's 18, it goes to her. So stop," she purportedly replied.

"I sent paperwork over so she wouldn't be in the Diddy song to protect her."

    Insider's insight

Insider revealed Kardashian's priority is her children's well-being

In the wake of the public fallout, an insider revealed to Page Six that Kardashian's main focus is on her children's well-being and safety.

"Kim's priority is the well-being and safety of her children and to protect them from being around Kanye's controversial behavior," the source said.

Apart from the song release and vocal support for rape and prostitution accused Diddy, Ye has been courting controversy for launching anti-semitic T-shirts and going on racist rants online.
