    What's the story

Stellar filmmaker and producer, Shekhar Kapur and the man behind the film of the millennium 'Mr. India' turns 72 today.

On his birthday, we thank him for creating the best desi superhero movie. There is a reason why, even after 30 years, it still enjoys the cult status.

So, brace yourselves to know the unknown facts about your favorite childhood movie.

    Director

Why Shekhar Kapur was chosen as the director?

Mr. India is desi version of a superhero film, which demanded the presence of 10 child actors. Meanwhile, Shekhar Kapur had given a hit movie 'Masoom', which was also a story about children.

The makers decided to rope him in because he had an expertise in that genre.

And, thank God for that! No one, except him, could have done justice to the movie.

    Screenwriters

    Last film by Salim-Javed

'Mr. India' is the last film where the name Salim-Javed appeared together on the screen. This famous pair, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar parted ways, after this movie, due to various creative differences.

Together they have crafted some of the finest films in the history of Indian cinema, like 'Sholay', 'Zanjeer', 'Deewar' and so on.

Their separation was indeed a loss to the industry.

    Salary

Sridevi was paid more than she desired

Back in the day, when a lakh had a humongous value in the market, the female lead of the film, Sridevi had reportedly demanded Rs. 10 lakh.

But much to her delight, producer Boney Kapoor, went out of his way to pay her more than she had asked for. She was paid Rs. 11 lakh.

She deserved every penny, and then some more.

    Song

Kavita Krishnamurthy's major blooper in a song

The voice behind our all-time favorite dance anthem 'Hawa Hawai', Kavita Krishnamurthy made a blunder when she crooned "Jeenu" in place of "Jaanu" in the first part of the song.

But the music composer Lakshmikant Pyarelal refused to record the song again as the whole rendition was so fantastic.

'Hawa Hawai' has now been re-created in a 2017 film 'Tumhari Sulu'.
