Kangana Ranaut on #MeToo: I was harassed by actors

    What's the story

Trust Kangana Ranaut to speak her mind and she won't disappoint. The actress doesn't shy away from expressing her thoughts, come what may.

So when Kangana was asked to speak on #MeToo, during the promotions of Manikarnika: Queen Of Jhansi, the actress revealed her ugly experiences.

The diva said he was harassed several times on the sets.

Here's more on what she said.

    Harassment

I faced harassment on many fronts: Kangana

Talking about her experiences, Kangana said that she faced harassment on many levels in her career in Bollywood.

She added it wasn't sexual but it was humiliating and daunting, nevertheless.

"Harassment happens on many levels. So many times on sets, I wasn't sexually harassed, but some people had ego issues. I was harassed on many other fronts," the Woh Lamhe actress added.

    Statement

Kangana was made to wait for six hours on sets

Kangana spoke about workplace harassment and hinted that Bollywood was unwelcoming to her.

Recalling the ugly days, she said, "Making me wait on set for six hours, willingly giving me wrong call time to make me stand, always giving me the wrong set of dates so I'm missing out on opportunities and then canceling the schedule last minute by these heroes (sic)."

    Targeted

I was targeted by many A-listers: Kangana

Kangana revealed that many A-listers targeted her in Bollywood.

The harassment ranged from 'ganging up' against her to dubbing her voice without consent.

"Not inviting me to film events, launching trailers without me and then someone else dubbed for me without even telling me, which is violating the basic right of taking permission from an actor," she said, recalling the humiliation.

    #MeToo

Men are now scared of #MeToo, says Kangana

Bollywood's #MeToo unmasked several sexual predators. They know they will be held responsible for their actions.

And Kangana is quite happy with the way the movement shaped up.

"Men are scared in the industry. This isn't going to stop. This will continue till we really go into the root cause of it because essentially it's a patriarchal society which is extremely chauvinistic," Kangana said.

    Solution

Immediate action is the need of the hour: Kangana

Kangana, being her unabashed self, said that it's high time to take such incidents seriously. She stated that there should be rules for the actors and strict actions need to be taken for violation.

"Things can't be solved on a personal level or behind closed doors. Things should be taken to authority and immediate action is the need of the hour," Kangana concluded.
