#ComicBytes: Facts about Wonder Woman which you should know

    What's the story

The Amazonian princess named Diana entered the superhero scene in 1941 and revolutionized how women were portrayed in the comics.

She broke the norms and became a symbol of empowerment at a time when women were portrayed as librarians or lovelorn lasses.

She holds a significant place among the typically 'male' heroes like Superman and Batman.

Here are some interesting facts about Wonder Woman.

    Banned

Wonder Woman has been a victim of the patriarchal mindset

This badass woman might have been the first female member of The Justice League, but just a year after she was created, she was banned.

The reason for this ban? She wasn't sufficiently dressed.

'The National Organization for Decent Literature' blacklisted her comics as "publications disapproved for youth."

Over time, the ban was lifted and she became an icon of women empowerment.

    The Killer

While other heroes have their reservations about killing, she doesn't

It is common knowledge that Superman and Batman do not kill anyone, no matter the crime.

Wonder Woman is their peer and an equal, but she is much more relaxed with the no-killing rule.

While she does not enjoy it, she has killed people in the past.

She has chopped heads, snapped necks, and stabbed the bad guys to save the world.

    A Powerhouse

She has more powers than you think

Wonder Woman can compel people to tell the truth with her lasso.

Her bracelets save her from incoming attacks. She has super speed, strength, invulnerability, and can fly as well.

But apart from these, she has a healing factor, divine wisdom, enhanced senses, super breath, and telepathy.

Her only weakness for a long time was getting tied up by a man.

    Facts

Wonder Woman: Sidekicks, lifestyle, and other interesting facts

She has had two sidekicks- Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark. She is one of the very few beings to lift Thor's hammer.

She has worked at a fast food franchise to better understand humans and has no secret identity.

Wonder Woman was almost called Suprema, is a vegetarian and has been romantically associated with both Superman and Batman.

    She has also died once.
