    What's the story

Filmmaker Vivek Anchalia is all set to release India's first AI-generated feature film, Naisha, in theaters.

Although the movie was initially intended for a YouTube release, it is now scheduled for a big-screen launch in May.

The story of Naisha revolves around the love story of two AI-generated characters, Naisha Bose and Zain Kapoor, set against India, France, and Switzerland.

    Filmmaking process

    Anchalia's innovative approach to filmmaking

According to Mid-Day, Anchalia's distinctive style of filmmaking was to use AI software like Runway, Kling, and Pica Labs to develop the six main AI characters and a few locations in eight months.

He said, "In the trailer, there are multiple shots of people traveling to different cities and countries. That only happens on a film with a ₹100 crore [budget]. Here, we are putting out a big film on a limited budget."

    Director's contribution

    Anchalia's personal touch in 'Naisha'

While Anchalia relied on AI software for most of the visuals in Naisha, he did the voice act for Kapoor's character himself.

He used ElevenLabs to process the voice and worked with human composer Daniel B George for the film's music.

"The music is one aspect that is created by humans. Daniel B George composed a few songs," he added.

    Theatrical release

'We are confident of a theatrical release'

Expressing his excitement for Naisha's theatrical release, Anchalia said, "We are confident of a theatrical release. Some deals have already happened, and ongoing conversations have made us confident that it will be released on a decent scale."

He further added that talks are on with two to three distributors and is hopeful for the film's successful release.
