I like to be criticized, it makes me aware: Bachchan

    What's the story

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he's fine taking criticism as it assures that the work has been consumed by the audience as opposed to people not watching a film at all.

Bachchan, along with wife Jaya, was in conversation with author Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi at the launch of his book 'The Rabbit and The Squirrel' at the 9th edition of Tata Literature Live!, on Thursday.

    Perception

Jaya, Big B's different outlook towards taking criticism

When asked how they take criticism, Jaya quipped, "I don't actually care."

Whereas Bachchan said, "The first assurance that you get is somebody has actually read your work. It's important for us... because if no one goes to see our films, that's bad... But seriously, I'd like to be criticized because it gives you an aspect of your work...you may not be aware of."

    Observation

'Most of the times, the critics are right, we're wrong'

Amitabh said critics' observations often go beyond the obvious and point out nuances, which is a must for people in the creative field.

"There are many critics who're able to have that perception...I think it's important for anyone in the creative field to know that. Many times, we're unaware of it. Most of the times, the critics are right and we're wrong," he added.

Fest to feature speakers, authors, intellectuals from around the world

Amitabh further said that if one feels the critics have been unfair, one should "cut that criticism out from the piece of paper...stick it on your bathroom-wall and every morning, look into the mirror and say, 'One day buddy, I'm going to disapprove you.'"

The fest will feature speakers, authors, intellectuals, journalists, and performers from around the world including 'The Crown' director Stephen Daldry.
