Yes, it was Jaya Bachchan's character Nandini Raichand, that should have gotten more attention than it did.

In the film, we see that ShahRukh's character loses the battle against his father's ego and leaves the house. He maintained a stern stance and refused to budge, in spite of feeling miserable.
But it was the mother who faced the wrath of the father and son's fall out.
Where everyone else had moved on, it was Nandini who suffered everyday bereft her son.

Nandini Raichand wallowed in luxury, from private jets to mansions and expensive wardrobes, there was everything that her business tycoon husband had given her.
But the character often got lost in the riches. For her, it was her adopted son who meant the world and everything else was dark without him.
Her husband's ego took away as much as he had given her.
Strong
Not so fragile
It can be called one the most iconic scenes of the film when Nandini gave her husband a taste of his own medicine.
She slammed him for keeping her son away but with utmost dignity and respect.
She also made him realize that not all his decisions are always right and then walked away by repeating his dialogue, 'Keh diya na, bas keh diya'.
