Honey Singh in legal trouble for vulgar lyrics in 'Makhna'

    What's the story

Rapper Honey Singh, who recently made his comeback after a hiatus, landed in legal trouble for his song Makhna, which was released last December.

Reportedly, Punjab Women Commission has demanded a legal action against him and the makers of the song for its objectionable "lyrics against women."

It also insisted for a ban on the song as it has "a degrading influence on society."

    Complaint

Punjab Women Commission also targets T-series head Bhushan Kumar

Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati expressed her disapproval over the lewd lyrics of the song such as Main hoon womanizer and Silicon wali ladkiyon ko main pakadta nahi.

Taking suo moto cognizance of matter, Manisha wrote to the Director General of Punjab Police, recommending action against Singh and T-series head Bhushan Kumar.

She also sought status report in the matter by July 12.

    Ban

Punjab Women Commission may meet state government officials over this

"A legal action and an inquiry is required to be initiated by the police on the matter as the song readied by T-series chairman Bhushan Kumar and singers Honey Singh and Neha Kakkar uses vulgar words against women," Manisha wrote in her application.

She will most likely meet the Punjab Government officials to get Makhna banned in the state.

    Controversy

In 2013, Singh was booked for 'Main Hu Balatkari'

Notably, this isn't the first time that Singh was targeted for his vulgar lyrics.

Earlier in 2013, the rapper was booked by Punjab Police for his song Main Hoon Balatkari under Section 294 of IPC.

However, he later claimed that he never sung the song, and was framed due to mistaken identity.

He also submitted an affidavit in Punjab High Court for the same.
