'Gold' teaser: No dialogues, Prithviraj Sukumaran fights, Nayanthara pops popcorn
What's the story
We finally have an update on Gold.
The Malayalam film that brings together stalwarts Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara got its teaser recently.
This is their second full-length film together, in which Nayanthara is playing a character named Sumangali Unnikrishnan.
Directed by Alphonse Puthren, the suspense drama was launched in September 2021 with a formal pooja ceremony.
The film is currently in the post-production stage.

Why does this story matter?
Sukumaran is an established name in the Malayalam film industry and has delivered successive hits in the recent past.
Nayanthara, on the other hand, has steadily carved a place for herself and is now one of the bankable actors of South India.
Their last film together, Trishna, might not have done well, but their chemistry made their fans hungry to see their pairing again.

What is in store for us in the teaser?
In the 2:23-minute-long teaser, we see a group trying to tow a vehicle as Sukumaran watches them from hiding.
He startles them by giving out a shout and then approaches them.
Without saying any other word, he is shown kicking one of the members.
Nayanthara appears at the 1:23-minute-mark, popping a popcorn. She says no line and just gives out a "what's up?" expression.

Positives, negatives of teaser
What impresses most in the teaser are lack of dialogues, and the energetic background music. However, it also tests one's patience for a good one minute when it shows nothing but Sukumaran slow walking toward the group. That feels boring, but is it done purposely?

Though Puthren has helmed only two films so far — Neram and Premam — he is one of the most celebrated directors of the South Indian Cinema.
Gold is his third directorial, which marks his return to filmmaking after seven years.
It is being bankrolled by Sukumaran's wife Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen under the banners Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, respectively.
