    What's the story

Decades ago, six friends entered TV screens and our lives. Every 22-minute-episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S made us laugh, sometimes left us teary-eyed, and eventually became the one show we would watch after a bad day.

Now, years after the finale aired, F.R.I.E.N.D.S is coming back, this time on HBO Max as the six core stars have agreed for a one-off special episode.

    We are super pumped!

    TV series

In case you are unaware of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, here's a cheat-sheet

The NBC sitcom, that aired between 1994 and 2004, focused on the lives of six friends Monica Geller (Courtney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer).

They stayed in New York, struggled with faulty relationships and jobs, but at the end stuck together, teaching everyone what friendships mean.

    Reunion

Fans demanded a reunion, HBO Max fulfilled their wishes

Since its last episode aired, fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S have been demanding one last episode, because 236 was clearly not enough.

Every meeting of the stars was linked to a possible special episode, but fans got disappointment every time. Until HBO Max was announced.

The new streaming platform, which is yet to be launched, made the big announcement a couple of hours ago.

    Fees

Actors will be getting more than what they drew earlier

The mega announcement is just the kind of push that a new streaming platform would want. And for this, HBO Max is spending a lot of money too.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, each of the stars will be getting somewhere between $2.5 million and $3 million for the unscripted special.

When they worked with NBC, they drew $1 million per episode.

    Statement

'The One Where They All Got Back Together'

Kevin Reilly, the chief content officer at HBO Max, said, "Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together."

"I became aware of F.R.I.E.N.D.S when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation," he added.

    Looking back

Earlier, Aniston said they were 'working on something'

Aniston was among the first ones to confirm that something is in the pipeline.

When asked about a F.R.I.E.N.D.S reboot, Aniston told celebrity host Ellen DeGeneres, "We would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying. We're working on something."

Now weeks later, we know what she was talking about.

    Money talks

Fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S will now become customers of HBO Max

Though years have passed, the popularity of F.R.I.E.N.D.S has remained undeterred. Sales of DVD for the entire series soared high this year and it's likely that customers will pay $15/month to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S again.

In the highly-competitive market of streaming, HBO Max has cracked the code of standing out.

As far as we are concerned, we just want the special to arrive soon.
