The tribute honored deceased television industry members such as Shannen Doherty, Bob Newhart, and Gena Rowlands.
However, viewers were quick to notice that Duvall—who passed away in July at age 75—was conspicuously absent from the tribute.

The omission of Duvall from the tribute segment led to an outcry on social media.
One user questioned on X (formerly Twitter), "How did Shelley Duvall not make it into the segment?? #Emmys," while another expressed disbelief, "How could they forget Shelley Duvall?!"
Meanwhile, another wrote, "How dare they not include my queen shelley duvall in the memorial at the Emmy's I'm pissed #Emmys, (sic)."

Duvall aside, Johnny Wactor, director Eleanor Coppola, and General Hospital star Tyler Christopher were all notably missing from this year's 'In Memoriam' segment.
Their names, however, appeared on a much longer "In Memoriam" list on the Emmys website.
Wactor—known for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital—was tragically shot and killed in an alleged attempted robbery on May 25 at the age of 37.
He also had roles in shows such as NCIS, The OA, Station 19, and Westworld.
