    What's the story

Tito Jackson, a prominent member of the iconic music group The Jackson 5, has died at the age of 70. His death was confirmed by the family's former manager Steve Manning to ET on Monday.

Born Toriano Adaryll Jackson, he was Michael Jackson's brother and the third child in the renowned Jackson family.

While no official cause of death has been disclosed yet, Manning suspects that he suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.

    Personal life

    Jackson's solo career and family

Beyond his fame with The Jackson 5, Jackson also pursued a solo career as a blues musician starting in 2003.

He released two albums in the past decade: Tito Time in 2016 and Under Your Spell in 2021.

He is survived by his three children—Taj, Taryll, and TJ—and nine grandchildren.

Jackson was known to be particularly close to his late brother Michael's children Prince, Paris, and Blanket.

    Legacy

Jackson's enduring commitment to music and family

Despite recent family disputes, Jackson remained dedicated to his music and family.

He continued performing with The Jacksons alongside his brothers Marlon and Jackie—as well as his son Taryll.

They often performed old hits such as Can You Feel It, I Want You Back, and Shake Your Body.

Jackson had no plans to retire from music and was scheduled to release a new version of his single Love One Another in early 2025 featuring 3T—the band comprising his three sons.
