    What's the story

Richie Mehta, the creator of Netflix's acclaimed series Delhi Crime and Amazon Prime Video's Poacher, is set to executive produce the upcoming film Boy From Andaman, reported Variety.

The film marks the directorial debut of Parinaz Jal and is based on an original idea by Manu Chopra. The script is co-written by Jal and Chopra.

The film explores themes of faith through two characters navigating vastly different realities.

    Movie details

'Boy From Andaman' delves into profound themes of faith

Boy From Andaman tells the story of Mohan—a Mumbai post office worker who stumbles upon a letter addressed to "God" from a young tsunami survivor in the Andaman Islands.

An unlikely friendship blossoms between them through their letter exchanges, prompting Mohan to travel to the Andamans to assist the boy.

The film "delves into the profound themes of faith as experienced by two characters navigating vastly different realities," per a description from the producers.

Mehta and Jal reunite for 'Boy From Andaman'

Jal, who is making her directorial debut with this film, previously assisted Mehta on Poacher and Delhi Crime.

The film is being bankrolled by Janice Chua for Imagine Entertainment and Harman Baweja for India's Baweja Studios, along with Los Angeles-based Rick Ambros, Vancouver-based Bhhaskar De, and Mumbai-based Sharmila Pinheiro.

Baweja described Boy From Andaman as a heartwarming and inspiring story, while Ambros and De called it a "story of hope and compassion that renews our faith in humanity."
