'Cobalt Blue' to finally hit Netflix on April 2

    What's the story

Famous author/playwright Sachin Kundalkar's directorial Cobalt Blue has been making headlines ever since the news of it being adapted for the screen came up.

However, the Prateik Babbar-starrer saw a prolonged delay with its premiere date on Netflix.

Originally touted for December 2021 release, the film is finally going to get dropped on the platform on Saturday (April 2).

    Here's more on that.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

The Hindi film, based on Kundalkar's highly acclaimed 2006 novel by the same name, Cobalt Blue was scheduled to hit Netflix on December 3.

Makers had dropped the trailer for the movie back in November.

However, for reasons unspecified, the streaming service held back the release.

Months down the line, on March 31, Netflix announced Cobalt Blue would be getting released on Saturday.

Netflix re-released trailer for 'Cobalt Blue'

To reach more people about the venture, Netflix re-released the trailer of the film on Thursday.

Tanay (Neelay Mehendale) and Anuja (Anjali Sivaraman) play siblings in a Marathi household that has shifted to Kerala.

One summer, both the siblings fall in love with their charming paying guest (Babbar), thereby unsettling every familial equation.

The film deals with elements of love, possessiveness, jealousy, and betrayal.

    Story

Tanay is likely to serve as narrator for the tale

Tanay, an aspiring novelist, seems to be the narrator.

While we see his side of falling in love with the elusive paying guest, Anuja's connection with the man comes as a shock.

Anuja is a hockey player not interested in cooking or dressing up all pretty like she's "supposed" to do, but her failed attempt at fleeing with the paying guest upends her life.

    Information

Film announced way back in 2018

Announced in 2018 along with seven other Indian original films by Netflix, Cobalt Blue is actually the only title that is yet to release.

The premise of siblings falling in love with the same man might remind you of the plotline of Karan Johar's Dostana 2.

Produced by Priya Sreedharan, Wasim Khan, and Zulfaquar Torabi, it co-stars Shishir Sharma, Anant Joshi, and Geetanjali Kulkarni.
