    What's the story

The Golden Globe Awards wrapped up sometime back and this season saw a host of exciting competition and surprising winners.

Among the winners was Christian Bale who won the best actor in a musical or comedy film, for his role in Vice.

While Bale's acceptance speech was funny, he surprisingly chose to thank 'Satan' for his inspiration.

Read on to know what he said.

    Speech

Humorous speech by Bale ends in gratitude to Satan

Bale began his speech saying they were all lucky to do what they loved.

He thanked his wife and children for their love and support, before acknowledging director of Vice, Adam McKay.

While sharing the award with the cast and crew, especially with the prosthetics team, Bale ended his speech in a shout out saying, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration".

    Bale's awards

Beating out tough competition, Bale wins second Golden Globe Award

Bale beat tough competition this year including Hollywood legend Robert Redford who was nominated for The Old Man & the Gun, Viggo Mortensen who had been nominated for Green Book, the likes of John C. Reilly for Stan & Ollie and Lin-Manuel Miranda for Mary Poppins Returns.

Notably, this is Bale's second Golden Globe following his 2011 award for best-supporting actor for The Fighter.

    Reaction

The Church of Satan basks in Bale's glory

The Church of Satan was quick to bask in the glory of Bale's victory.

They said Satan was a symbol of 'pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential'.

Since Bale won the award due to his own talent, they saw the gratitude as fitting.

They concluded hailing Bale as well as Satan.

'Hail Christian! Hail Satan!' the Church Of Satan replies

To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale's own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan! https://t.co/ILuK8TFZXi
