    What's the story

Acclaimed music composer A.R. Rahman (58) was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning after complaining of sudden chest pain.

Per a News18 report, he also experienced neck discomfort.

The Oscar-winning artist is currently under medical care and may need an angiogram.

He is expected to be discharged by noon.

Further details about his condition are still awaited.

    Recent health crisis

Rahman's ex-wife, Saira Banu, recently underwent surgery

This health scare comes weeks after Rahman's ex-wife Saira Banu was admitted to a hospital and later had an emergency surgery.

In a statement released through her legal counsel Vandana Shah, Banu thanked everyone for their support during this tough time.

She asked for prayers and thanked her friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, and Shah and Rahman, for their unflinching support.

    Journey

Rahman and Banu's personal life and Rahman's recent work

Rahman and Banu, who got married in 1995, share three children- two daughters Khatija and Rahima, and a son Ameen.

The couple announced their separation last November with a joint statement.

Rahman, whose signature style of fusing classical Indian music with modern sound won him fame with the Roja soundtrack, has won two Academy Awards for Slumdog Millionaire.

He recently composed music for Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava.
