    What's the story

A local court in Chandigarh has issued a notice to Bollywood actor-producer and Mandi MP, Kangana Ranaut, directing her to appear in court on December 5.

The notice was issued following a petition filed by an advocate against Ranaut, Ritesh Shah ScreenPlay, and Zoo Studio.

The petition alleges that the film 'Emergency,' which Ranaut stars in and produces, portrays the Sikh community negatively.

    Allegations detailed

'Emergency' accused of tarnishing Sikh community's image

The petition specifically accuses the film of targeting the former jathedar of Akal Takht and depicting him as a terrorist.

The advocate said, "The actions of the defendant have hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community."

The petition calls for an FIR to be registered against Ranaut and others under sections related to spreading enmity between communities in name of religion, caste, etc., and inciting religious sentiments.

    Public statement

    Ranaut addresses controversy surrounding 'Emergency'

Ranaut recently addressed the delay in the release of her film, originally scheduled for September 6.

She said only a small group of people object to the film and questioned their objections' legitimacy.

"My film is ready to be released. It has received certification from the censor board... There is nothing wrong with my film," she said at a News18 event in New Delhi.

    Financial impact

Ranaut expresses frustration over film's delay

Ranaut also expressed her frustration over the financial impact of the delay on her project.

"Till when will we continue to play safe? I do not think like this. I never thought people will have an objection to Bhindranwale being shown as a terrorist. I am being tortured... We also faced losses," she revealed.

Despite these challenges, she remains determined to release Emergency, which features notable actors such as Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry and Shreyas Talpade.
