Box office: 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' almost hits ₹60cr mark

    What's the story

In 17 days, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is on the brink of crossing the ₹60cr mark.

The high-octane actioner—much anticipated and awaited—failed to live up to expectations, leaving critics and viewers underwhelmed with its repetitive storyline.

Despite its initial strong showing, the film found itself sinking under the weight of its embarrassing collections, amid its reported high budget of ₹300cr.

    Collection

'BMCM': Collection breakdown of day 17

Ali Abbas Zafar's directorial entered its third weekend on a disappointing note.

On its third Friday (day 16), the film barely managed to add ₹40 lakh to its collection.

However, Saturday showed a slight improvement, with earnings of ₹65 lakh.

As per Sacnik, the domestic total of BMCM now stands at ₹59.55cr.

In contrast, its competitor, Ajay Devgn's Maidaan—initially slow to start—gained momentum, and crossed the ₹40cr mark within the same timeframe.

    Audience turnout

Film recorded varied turnout throughout the day

On Saturday, BMCM recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.50%.

The morning shows saw a lower attendance at 6.97%, while the afternoon shows witnessed an increase to 11.15%.

Meanwhile, the night shows recorded the highest occupancy at 15.60%.

Apart from Kumar and Shroff, the film also features Manushi Chhillar as Captain Misha, Alaya F as Doctor Parminder Bawa, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as villain Kabir or Mr. X.

    Producer's experience

When Jackky Bhagnani recalled Govinda's reaction to the trailer

Ahead of the film's release, producer Jackky Bhagnani shared an intriguing anecdote about Govinda's positive reaction to the trailer.

Bhagnani recalled showing the trailer to the 60-year-old at his house a day before its highly-anticipated launch on April 11—coinciding with Eid.

He quoted Govinda complimenting the director, "Your director is a very good man."

Bhagnani found these words reassuring and expressed that they boosted his confidence.

    Critics

Not all reviews of 'BMCM' have been positive

Despite the positive feedback from industry colleagues, not all reviews of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan have been glowing.

A film critic observed that the movie relies heavily on its star-studded cast to compensate for a mediocre script.

He wrote, "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan labors in the belief that star power can help a sloppy script paper over the effects of a glaring lack of substance."
