    What's the story

The surviving members of the legendary rock band Nirvana—Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear—reunited on stage at the FireAid benefit concert at Los Angeles's Intuit Dome.

The concert was held in the wake of the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires.

It was a momentous occasion as it was the closest fans have come to a full-fledged Nirvana reunion since Kurt Cobain's death almost 31 years ago.

    Special performances

Guest vocalists filled Cobain's void at FireAid

The Nirvana members were joined by guest vocalists St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Joan Jett who performed renditions of Breed, School, and Territorial Pissings respectively.

Each artist brought their unique style to the performance while paying tribute to Cobain's legacy.

St. Vincent was especially praised for her intense rendition of Breed.

The concert served as a poignant reminder of Nirvana's enduring influence on rock music.

    Family involvement

Violet Grohl's performance added a familial touch to the reunion

The concert also saw a special performance by Grohl's daughter, Violet, who sang All Apologies from Nirvana's third and final studio album, In Utero.

It wasn't her first time performing with the band as she had previously performed Heart-Shaped Box at The Art of Elysium benefit in 2020.

Her involvement added a familial touch to the event and her rendition was praised for its maturity and depth.

    Concert details

FireAid: A star-studded event for a noble cause

The event saw performances from several artists including No Doubt, Lady Gaga, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Katy Perry, Sting, and Billie Eilish among others.

The full FireAid webcast was released on platforms like Apple Music, DIRECTV STREAM, and Netflix/Tudum.com.
