    What's the story

Actor Neetu Chandra, who has appeared in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films, has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Patna High Court.

The PIL seeks a ban on "vulgar" Bhojpuri songs in Bihar.

Chandra argued that the songs are making women uncomfortable and preventing society from progressing by reducing respect for women.

    Safety concerns

'Due to these songs, women don't even like watching TV'

Speaking to India TV, the Garam Masala actor said she was worried about how these songs affected the safety of young girls.

She said, "Vulgar Bhojpuri and Hindi songs are not leaving the girls and women going to school and college in Bihar, and they are forced to walk on the road with their eyes down."

"Due to these songs, women do not even like to watch TV at home."

    Legal action

Chandra called for legal action against singers of such songs

Chandra also suggested that the court should take legal action against singers who perform these songs.

She believes many singers have gained fame through such content, which could potentially hinder societal and national development.

The actor emphasized her desire for a complete ban on the production and playing of these songs in Bihar.

    What she said

'Why can't it ban these vulgar songs for girls, women?'

Chandra added, "When girls or women cannot walk safely on the road, how can they think about development?"

"If a government can enact a law to ban liquor to protect women from drunken husbands, then why can't it ban these vulgar songs for school and college-going girls and women?"

After debuting in Garam Masala, Chandra has starred in films like Godavari and Traffic Signal.
