    What's the story

Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford, 82, has pulled out of his presenting duties at the 2025 Academy Awards after being diagnosed with shingles recently.

The actor reportedly fell ill on Friday and subsequently withdrew from his role as a presenter at the prestigious event.

Despite the health setback, reports have confirmed that Ford is "doing OK" physically.

His representatives are yet to issue an official statement on his health or withdrawal from the Oscars.

    Health update

Ford's recent appearance and understanding of shingles

Just days before his diagnosis, Ford was spotted at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

He appeared in a funny skit with Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams.

Shingles is a viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus—the same virus that causes chickenpox.

Per Mayo Clinic, "Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. Shingles can occur anywhere on your body."

"Shingles isn't life-threatening. But it can be very painful."

    Professional front

Ford's ongoing work and upcoming Oscars ceremony

Despite his health issues, Ford recently assured fans of his good physical health and active involvement in filming 1923 Season 2.

He emphasized that his latest work still includes physically demanding sequences such as horseback riding.

The Oscars ceremony will be hosted by Conan O'Brien and will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday (March 2).

In India, the event can be streamed on JioHotstar on Monday morning.
