    What's the story

Days after it was reported that Aamir Khan's Lal Singh Chaddha will feature the highly-controversial Babri Masjid demolition, it's now said that it would be based on 1984 anti-Sikh riots instead.

According to reports, the riots will play an important part in the plot.

The report also said that Aamir was very particular about his next since Thugs of Hindostan tanked at box office.

    Information

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots killed 4,000 Sikhs across India

A report published in Pinkvilla confirmed the development, saying the movie would revolve around the horrifying riots, which killed 4,000 Sikhs across India, as per official estimates. The anti-Sikh riots erupted after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.

    Reports

Previous reports mentioned that it would feature Babri incident

Earlier this week, it was reported that Lal Singh Chaddha will showcase India's growth as a nation.

The reports further suggested that it would apparently include instances like the 1992 demolition of Babri Masjid.

It was also said that the film would highlight the current political events, with a special focus on the current government of the country.

But looks like there's a change.

    Remake

Aamir-starrer will recreate scenes with personalities, like 'Forrest Gump' did

Lal Singh Chaddha, which is a remake of Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump, will have scenes in which Aamir's character meets several eminent personalities, and for recreating those the team's relying on VFX.

"It will be a reference for the world to see what happened in India in the past few years like how Forrest Gump did with reference to the US," a source stated.

Makers assure movie "will not rake up too much controversy"

"What Aamir and director Advait Chandan understand is that the film's political symbolism at many places will have different interpretations and hence, they're assuring that it will not rake up too much controversy and will not inadvertently create trouble for the film," the source added.

    Reunion

Aamir to romance Kareena again after seven years

Apart from Aamir, the movie will also star Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead.

Notably, it will mark their reunion after Talaash.

Reportedly, Aamir will be seen playing the role of a Sikh and will sport a turbaned look.

The lead pair will also be seen in four different looks in the movie, which begins in the 1970s and ends in the present time.
