    What's the story

In wake of the ongoing #MeToo movement, Aamir Khan has left Gulshan Kumar's biopic after allegations of sexual harassment were leveled against its director Subhash Kapoor.

Subhash was accused of sexual misconduct by actress Geetika Tyagi in 2014.

Aamir was said to be producing the movie which was titled as 'Mogul'. However, he chose to leave the project after Subhash's case came to light.

    Aamir's exit

Aamir announced his exit on Twitter

Aamir released a statement on Wednesday announcing his exit from the project.

He said he was about to work with someone who has been accused of sexual misconduct.

Although the matter is sub-judice, Aamir chose to step away from the movie without casting any aspersions.

While he didn't name anyone, it didn't take us long to recognize that it was Subhash Kapoor.

    Geetika's tweet

Aamir's statement came after Geetika Tyagi called out on his wife Kiran Rao on Twitter.

In a tweet, Geetika questioned Kiran about Aamir doing a project with Subhash Kapoor despite allegations of sexual misconduct being leveled against him.

She tweeted this after Mumbai Film Festival, headed by Kiran Rao, disassociated itself from directors/producers being tagged in the #MeToo movement.

Actress Geetika Tyagi had accused Subhash Kapoor of molestation in 2014.

In fact, she also alleged that Subhash made an attempt to rape her in 2012 after which she even filed a police complaint against him.

She also shared a video on micro-blogging site Twitter where she is seen slapping Subhash for his inappropriate behavior.

    Defense

Subhash pleads non-guilty, says 'will prove my innocence'

Subhash has reacted to Aamir's exit from 'Mogul' and said that while he respects the decision he will prove his innocence in the court.

"But I do want to raise a question - is secretly filming a crying woman without her consent and knowledge and uploading it on social media, not harassment or abuse," Subhash said on the viral video of Geetika slapping him.
