    What's the story

The Gulshan Kumar biopic 'Mogul' was floundering after Akshay Kumar's exit over creative differences regarding the script.

However, the film soon saw brighter days when Aamir Khan came on as a co-producer.

Aamir obviously lacks no resources and soon approached star-boy Ranbir Kapoor to play the role of Gulshan.

Ranbir, who'd been considered for the role initially, seems likely to take up the challenge.

    Sanju & Ranbir

Sanju, the biopic, does wonders for Ranbir's career

Ranbir had been approached by Aamir during the promotions of 'Sanju'.

Seeing how he played the role of Sanjay Dutt effortlessly, he was asked if he was averse to acting in too many biopics. The concern was obvious, biopics are demanding roles requiring complete physical transformation.

Ranbir said he was up for the challenge and added that doing unusual things was part of his work.

    Complications

'Mogul' and the ups and downs of filmmaking

'Mogul' is the story of Gulshan Kumar, the founder of T-Series, but the film hit major snags straight off.

The lead actor- Akshay Kumar, quit the film stating creative differences and Gulshan's son Bhushan Kumar was left furious. He vowed to bring a bigger star.

While Ranbir is a bankable name, he is nowhere close to Akshay's stardom.

    Star power

Mr Perfectionist: Cometh the hour, cometh the Khan

Aamir was the ray of light that the film got when the perfectionist decided to co-produce the film.

However, he had his own conditions before coming on board. He reportedly asked the script to be changed to reflect an underdog story.

The man soon got to work, and the quick approach to cast Ranbir proves how valuable Aamir is to the film.

    Biopics

How many biopics are too many?

There seems to be a flood of biopics in Bollywood. We have Richa Chadha playing Shakeela, Akshay playing Tapan Das in 'Gold', and if things go well Ranbir might play Gulshan Kumar too.

While everyone wants to know life stories of forgotten personalities, the key is to be truthful.

No one appreciates a white-wash version of a tumultuous life (read 'Sanju')!
