    What's the story

A Bengaluru consumer court awarded Rs. 12,000 compensation to a man who was overcharged for a Kinley water-bottle by a mall-outlet owner.

Cottonpet's KP Raghavendra complained against GS Enterprises, a vendor in Bannerghatta Road's Royal Meenakshi Mall, and manufacturer Coca-Cola for charging him Rs. 21 extra for the bottle.

The third additional Bangalore Urban District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum heard the case.

Raghavendra purchased a 1-litre Kinley water bottle for Rs. 40 from the mall outlet on 5 Dec'15 instead of the Rs. 19 MRP.

He purchased a similar bottle from a Jayanagar shop the same day for Rs. 19.

He approached the court and submitted the invoices of both purchases.

He stressed Coca-Cola "connived" with the store to increase the price and cheat customers.
