Pakistan uses F-16 against India, US seeks more information

    What's the story

After Pakistan used F-16 jets to target military installments in India earlier this week, the United States is seeking more information.

By using the US made technologically advanced jets for its act of aggression, Pakistan violated the agreement and the State Department now wants more information.

"We are aware of these reports and are seeking more information," a state department spokesperson told PTI.

    Combat

India acted against terrorism, Pakistan retaliated using F-16

On Wednesday, 24 PAF jets attempted to breach Indian airspace. The plans of the formation were, however, thwarted by 8 IAF jets.

In the air engagement, wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down one F-16 jet, piloting his MiG-21 Bison.

This unachievable feat made everyone proud of IAF but Pakistan said it didn't use any F-16s for the operation.

The claims were busted by IAF.

    Proofs

Indian services bust Pakistan's lies in joint press conference

IAF, Army, and Navy held a joint press conference on Thursday to deliver a strong message that India is ready to face any adversities.

At the press conference, Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor said Pakistan lied by saying F-16s weren't used.

"Parts of AMRAAM air-to-air missile, which is carried only on F-16s in PAF, were recovered east of Rajouri within Indian territory," he said.

    Details

IAF showed debris to support its claim

The officers also showed parts of the missile recovered from Rajouri to support the claim. Not only this, but India also shared details of this aerial dogfight with the US.

As per Pentagon's Defense Security and Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the F-16 jets are meant to be used to "enhance Pakistan's ability to conduct counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations".

Pakistan can't use it on other nations.

    Deal

Pakistan is in a spot after using F-16s for aggression

Though non-disclosure agreements make it impossible to get more details about defense deals, publicly available documents highlight the US has imposed at least a dozen restrictions on Pakistan over usage of F-16.

Previously, US lawmakers had expressed concerns over Pakistan misusing the weapon to attack India.

In 2016, Congressmen questioned Barack Obama for selling eight F-16s to Pakistan. Notably, the order wasn't placed.
