    What's the story

Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been granted permission by a court to move from house arrest to jail.

Bibi has been under house arrest since January at the couple's Banigala residence, following a conviction for unlawfully selling state gifts, also known as the Toshakhana case.

She will now be moved to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where her husband is serving a 14-year sentence.

Bibi remains in custody in the Iddat case

In April, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the 14-year jail sentence of Khan and his wife, Bibi, in the Toshakhana case.

However, Bibi remains in custody in the Iddat case, while Imran also remains incarcerated in other cases.

A Pakistani court sentenced Khan and Bibi to seven years in prison for violating Islamic law in February.

    Bibi's former husband

Bibi's former husband, Khawar Maneka, filed the case

Bibi's former husband, Khawar Maneka, filed the case against the pair last year, alleging that Bibi didn't observe the three-month break required under Islamic law before remarrying Khan.

Maneka claimed he divorced Bibi in November 2017, while Khan announced his marriage to Bibi in February 2018.

Following the Toshakhana ruling, Bushra was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau.

She was later relocated to her Banigala home, after it was declared a sub-jail.

Wife given food mixed with toilet cleaner, claims Khan

Bibi's relocation to the Banigala residence has been under discussion for months, as she and her husband claimed they did not submit any application to declare the residence a sub-jail.

Last month, Khan alleged that Bibi was served food laced with a "toilet cleaner," leading to persistent stomach infections.

Initially, the Adiala Jail administration rejected a request to move her back to the prison, arguing that overcrowding presented a security risk to the former First Lady.
