    What's the story

An estimated 1.9 billion people across the world watched the Royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, tying the knot yesterday.

At the iconic St. George's Chapel of the Windsor Castle, the couple exchanged vows in the presence of 600 guests including the Queen, while the world watched on.

Here are some lesser-known facts about the Royal wedding.

    Do you know?

Meghan Markle's wedding gift belonged to Princess Diana

As a wedding gift, Prince Harry gave Meghan Markle an emerald-cut aquamarine ring which belonged to his late mother, Princess Diana of Wales, who had died in a tragic car crash in 1997.

    Public attendance

Over 100,000 took to London streets to see Royal couple

Interestingly, at least 100,000 people turned up on the streets of London to see the newly-wedded Royal couple, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as they passed by in an open-top Ascot Landau carriage.

2,640 people were invited for the marriage - the majority from charities close to the couple, and 1,200 people who were nominated by their Lord Lieutenant.
