    What's the story

The police in the United States have denied reports that Goldy Brar, the prime suspect in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, was on Wednesday killed in a shootout in Fresno, California.

This comes a day after two men were shot during a confrontation at an intersection in California. One of them reportedly died at a hospital.

Social media handles and some local media portals suggested that the deceased was Brar.

However, police have refuted the claims.

    Rumor spread

Police overwhelmed by global inquiries following misinformation

Dismissing the reports as false, Fresno Police Department Lieutenant William J Dooley said, "If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming that the shooting victim is 'Goldy Brar,' we can confirm that this is absolutely not true."

"We have received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of misinformation...We are not sure who started this rumor...it isn't true. The victim is definitely not Goldy," he added.

    True identity

Victim identified, notorious gangster still at large

Local reports have identified the deceased from the Fresno shooting as 37-year-old Xavier Galdney.

Meanwhile, Brar, whose real name is Satinderjit Singh, remains at large.

He is currently wanted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and has a non-bailable warrant issued against him.

Interpol has also issued a Red Corner Notice against him.

To recall, Brar was declared a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry on January 1, 2024.
