Yash Dayal credits Virat Kohli for his IPL 2024 turnaround
Uttar Pradesh fast bowler, Yash Dayal, has experienced a roller-coaster journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. After a challenging stint with Gujarat Titans in 2023, he was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Rs. 5 crore during the IPL 2024 auction. Dayal highlights Kohli's support
Upon joining RCB, Dayal experienced a remarkable turnaround in his performance. In a recent interview with Sports Tak, he attributed this improvement to the support and guidance of Kohli. Dayal lauds Kohli's approach toward young players
Dayal further praised Kohli's approach toward young players in the team, stating that "he talks to the youngsters in a very healthy way, and he is nothing like what people talk about on TV." This supportive environment created by Kohli was instrumental in helping Dayal regain his confidence and perform exceptionally well for RCB during the IPL 2024 season.
Dayal's IPL career: A tale of resilience and redemption
Dayal's IPL career began with GT in 2022, where he took 11 wickets. He was pivotal to GT's title-winning campaign. However, a disappointing performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023, where he conceded five consecutive sixes to Rinku Singh in the final over, led to a shocking defeat for his team. This setback significantly impacted Dayal's form for the remainder of that season.
Dayal owns 28 IPL wickets
As of now, Dayal has taken 28 wickets from as many IPL games at an average of 32.86. His economy rate of over 9 is on the higher side. Overall, the left-arm seamer has taken more than 50 wickets in T20 cricket.
