The rumors gained momentum when a video of a fan questioning Rahul about his potential move to RCB went viral. The fan, who identified himself as a die-hard RCB supporter, expressed his hope that Rahul would join the team. In response to this, Rahul intriguingly said, "Let's hope so." This statement has further fueled the ongoing speculation about his possible shift in allegiance for the upcoming IPL season.
Strained relations with LSG owner
The speculation about Rahul's move was further fueled by a public fallout between him and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. This occurred after LSG's defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2024 IPL edition. SRH chased down 167 in just 6.4 overs, with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma going berserk. Following the loss, Goenka publicly criticized Rahul, leading to rumors of a strained relationship between them.
Rahul's history with RCB and IPL journey
Rahul began his IPL journey with RCB in 2013. He moved back and forth between RCB and SRH until 2016. Rahul missed the 2017 IPL season due to an injury. Post his stint with RCB, he played for Punjab Kings between 2018 and 2021, also leading them. He joined LSG in 2022. Rahul currently has 4,683 runs from 132 IPL games at a remarkable average of 45.46. His tally includes four tons and 37 half-centuries.
