    What's the story

Collecting around $146 million in revenue last month, PUBG is now the highest grossing mobile game in the world, as per reports.

This revenue includes in-game purchases from PUBG Mobile as well as its Chinese alternative Game for Peace.

As per Great Wall Securities, PUBG Mobile generated $76 million while Game For Peace generated $70 million.

    Here's more about the news.

    Alternative

'Game for Peace' has greatly helped in revenue growth

PUBG wasn't allowed to generate any revenue in China owing to the country's strict gaming laws.

To combat this, Tencent decided to launch the game's more patriotic alternative known as Game for Peace.

The new game, while identical to PUBG, glorifies the Chinese Air Force and has less bloodshed.

The game was well-received and Tencent now earns revenue from China as well.

    Chinese Laws

Kill someone in 'Game for Peace' and they'll wave goodbye!

Chinese new rules suggest that any game that glorifies violence or sexuality will be banned.

PUBG's alternative has a hilarious take on a game that is all about war. If you kill someone in Game for Peace, they give you a loot box and wave goodbye!

These new laws have affected smaller companies that are now figuring out a way to get past them.

    Roundup

    Here's what's happening with 'PUBG's various versions

PUBG Mobile's update 0.13.0 is almost here and brings with it several changes including new zombies, new gaming modes, and weapons.

PUBG Lite will soon release in India and let players with low-end PCs enjoy the game on the big screen.

PUBG's PC version is revamping the popular map Erangel with new buildings and other updates ahead of its fourth season.
