    What's the story

On completing its 90th anniversary, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has re-branded itself and will now be called 'Cricket West Indies', while its team will now be known as 'WINDIES.'

Board's new Chief Executive Johnny Grave said, "Cricket West Indies better reflects how the organization operates, as there are many different stakeholders who we work in partnership with."

    Information

Name changed twice in 21 years?

West Indies Cricket Board has changed its name for the second time in the last 21 years. The board, which started in the early 1920s, was earlier known as West Indies Cricket Board of Control. However the word 'Control' was dropped in the year 1996.

    Details

    New strategic plans

After failing to qualify for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, WINDIES will miss out the tournament for the first time in the last 18 years.

CEO Johnny Grave said that a new strategic plan will be developed to improve the team's performance over the next 5 years.

WINDIES had won the World T20 last year, defeating England in the finals.

    Information

    Cricket Board and WINDIES' players

West Indies Cricket Board has a difficult relationship with many key players like Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle and Darren Sammy. With these senior players missing, the team has been on a decline and its place in 2019 World Cup might be in jeopardy.
