August 2, 2018 at Edgbaston saw him score a phenomenal century to complete 7,000 runs in international cricket as captain.
He need only 124 innings to achieve this feat.
Kohli surpassed the earlier record held by West Indian legend Brian Lara.
Lara had managed to reach his 7,000 runs as captain milestone in 164 innings.
Breaking records
When Kohli surpassed Dravid and Bradman
Kohli's mettle with the bat has helped him become the first batsman in the history of cricket to score 4 double centuries in 4 consecutive Test series.
This unique achievement took place over a period of two years (2016-2017) against West Indies, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh.
This record puts him before Dravid and Bradman, who had scored double centuries in 3 consecutive series.

The captain who was outstanding since he took charge
As a captain, Kohli has been prolific.
Nobody else has achieved the unique record of scoring 3 consecutive centuries in his first 3 innings as captain.
But Kohli is no ordinary cricketer, he scored two centuries in the same Test, with 115 and 141 against Australia at Adelaide.

Kohli breaks another record held by Sir Bradman
As a captain, Kohli has the most number of double centuries to his name.
His 6 double tons came against West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and twice against Sri Lanka.
It took him 499 days to go from his 1st to 6th double century, crossing Sir Donald Bradman's record of doing so in 581 days.
