    What's the story

Indian batter Virat Kohli finished his successful 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign on a low.

In an anti-climax, Kohli was dismissed for 1(2) as India attempted to chase 252 against New Zealand in the final in Dubai.

The Indian batter, who was dismissed by Michael Bracewell, tallied 218 runs in the tournament. He finished with a 50-plus average.

    Here are the key stats.

    Dismissal

    How Kohli departed in final

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added a 105-run stand to get India on top in the run-chase. The latter's dismissal in the 19th over exposed Kohli to the middle.

However, Bracewell struck on the next over's first delivery, dismissing Kohli. He trapped the Indian batter in front.

Kohli reviewed the decision, but the decision went against him.

    Runs

Second-most runs for India in CT 2025

Kohli bowed out as India's second-highest run-scorer of the 2025 Champions Trophy. He slammed 218 runs from five games at an incredible average of 54.50.

Kohli's unbeaten and match-winning century against Pakistan in India's second match helped his cause. He also scored 84 against Australia in the semi-final.

Only Shreyas Iyer (241) scored more runs than Kohli for India in the tournament.

    Century

    Historic ton against Pakistan

In the Pakistan game, Kohli raced to his 51st ODI ton.

It was his first ton since November 2023 when he smacked one against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final.

He has now become the first batter with more than 50 centuries in ODI cricket.

Kohli also slammed his fourth ODI ton against Pakistan, the joint second-most by a batter.

    14,000 runs

    Fastest to 14,000 ODI runs

During his knock, Kohli also unlocked another significant achievement.

With his 15th run, he completed 14,000 of those in ODI cricket. Kohli has become only the third player with this feat, joining Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.

Kohli is the fastest to 14,000 ODI runs (287 innings). The Indian batter is miles ahead of Sachin Tendulkar (350 innings) and Kumar Sangakkara (378 innings).

    Milestone

Most fifty-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments

    Kohli's 84 helped India in their run-chase of 265 in the semi-final.

Kohli now has the most fifty-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments. He broke a tie with Master Blaster Tendulkar, who owns 23 such scores.

Kohli also went past Shikhar Dhawan to become India's highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history.

He also became the first batter with 1,000-plus runs in ICC knockout matches.

    Information

Over 8,000 ODI runs in run-chases

In his match-winning knock against Australia, Kohli also completed 8,000 runs while chasing in the format. As per ESPNcricinfo, Kohli became only the second batter with this feat after Tendulkar (8,720).
