In a match in February 2013, Cena and CM Punk decided to use the piledriver move which has been banned by WWE.

Even at Xtreme Rules 2012, Cena bloodied himself against Lesnar when blood has been forbidden by the WWE.

Cena cuts a weird promo to undermine Lesnar
Continuing from the 2012 Xtreme Rules when he wore a crimson mask in the match against Brock Lesnar, Cena created another controversy.
He waited until Lesnar left the ring, then took a microphone and said that he has been forced to take a vacation for a while, and that is what he'll do.
Lesnar thought this was his opponent's tactic to undermine his win.
Chants
"John Cena sucks" chants stirred a big controversy
WWE fans, tired of being subject to heroics of Cena all the time, decided to boo him almost five years back.
Whenever his music hit, they sang "John Cena sucks" in unison.
WWE was worried about what they could do if its babyface champion was not appreciated by the audience.
Later it decided to incorporate the chants and call him WWE's most divisive superstar.
Nikki Bella
Some believe Cena used his power to push Nikki Bella
Word around the campfire at WWE was that its TV show Total Divas became increasingly centered on Nikki Bella because her then-boyfriend John Cena had pulled strings from the background to get her more prominence.
Maria Kanellis had accused the Bella twins of stopping her career going further using Cena's influence.
AJ Lee once told them on air, "Talent is not sexually transmitted".
Personal life
Cena's personal life is mired with more controversies
Cena was involved with Mickie James in 2009, but later claimed to marry his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth Huberdeau.
Then was he having an affair with Mickie behind his girlfriend's back?
Moreover, his marriage with his childhood girlfriend didn't last long as well, and they divorced within a few years.
Some believe it was because even after marriage, Cena got involved with pornstar Kendra Lust.
