    What's the story

We are nearing this year's third Grand Slam, Wimbledon and stars are busy in their preparations to stake a claim at the coveted trophy.

On one hand, Roger Federer continued his dominance with a win at Halle, while Andy Murray has stated that he might not participate in Wimbledon.

Among women's players, Petra Kvitova won her match in Birmingham.

    Here is the tennis round-up.

    Comeback

Murray could skip Wimbledon as he assesses comeback

Andy Murray got off to a losing start on his return from a hip injury, which kept him out for a year.

He said that he wouldn't rule out playing in Eastbourne next, but is likely to miss Wimbledon.

Murray is yet to make a decision as he assesses the best way to continue his comeback to the sport.

    Murray lost to Nick Kyrgios.

    Women's tennis

    Kvitova reigns supreme in Birmingham

Petra Kvitova beat Johanna Konta 6-3, 6-4 in the Nature Valley Classic in Birmingham.

Kvitova will next face Daria Gavrilova in the next round.

2017 Wimbledon winner and top seed Garbine Muguruza eased into the 2nd round after beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 6-2.

2nd seed Elina Svitolina overcame Donna Vekic in three sets.

    She won the tie 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

    Victory

    Vintage Federer extends winning run

Defending champion Roger Federer continued his winning run on grass to 17 matches after overcoming Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene at the Halle Open.

The Swiss maestro won the tie in a convincing 6-1, 6-2 fashion.

He is chasing a record 10th title in Halle.

He will be up against Frenchman Benoit Paire in the next round.

Federer reclaimed the number one ranking last week.
