Shams Mulani shines in Duleep Trophy, credits discipline for performance

    What's the story

Shams Mulani, the left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder for India A, emerged as a key player in the team's recent 186-run victory over India D in the Duleep Trophy.

His standout performance was marked by an impressive 89-run innings that helped lift India A from a precarious 93/5 to a respectable first-innings total of 290/10.

This feat was achieved with valuable support from teammates Kumar Kushagra and Tanush Kotian.

    Strategy

Mulani's disciplined approach and consistent performance

In addition to his batting prowess, Mulani also showcased his bowling skills by claiming four wickets in the match.

He attributed his success to a disciplined approach and consistency, both of which he has honed while playing for Mumbai.

"I wanted to replicate what I do for my state team," said Mulani after the match.

    Triumph

India A's victory strengthens position in Duleep Trophy

The victory has bolstered India A's standing in the Duleep Trophy, earning them six points and putting them in contention with India B and C for the title.

Team captain Mayank Agarwal expressed satisfaction with their performance, particularly praising the team's bowling strategy.

"The way we bowled in the first innings set it up for us," said Agarwal.

    Recognition

Iyer acknowledges Mulani's crucial role in India A's win

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of India D, acknowledged the significant role played by Mulani and Kotian in shaping the outcome of the match.

He highlighted their 91-run partnership for the seventh wicket in the first innings as a turning point.

"That partnership of 120 plus took away the momentum," said Iyer, emphasizing how this shift impacted his team's performance.

    Career

Mulani's consistent domestic cricket performance and future aspirations

Mulani's consistent performance in domestic cricket, including his significant wicket-taking in the Ranji Trophy, has put him on the radar for a potential national call-up.

He has already represented India A against England Lions earlier this year.

Despite facing stiff competition, Mulani remains optimistic about his future prospects.

"I'm working on both formats of the game and trying to improve each and every day," he stated.
