    The battles between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have often garnered headlines.

    The match-up is one of the highlights of the league's history with both teams clinching the title five times apiece.

    For MI skipper Rohit Sharma has often been a star performer against the Super Kings.

    Here we decode his captaincy stats against CSK in IPL.

    DYK 

    Second-most runs vs CSK as captain 

    As per ESPNcricinfo, Rohit led MI 22 games against the Super Kings.

    He managed 531 runs in these games at a paltry average of 26.55. The strike rate reads 127.03 as the tally includes five fifties.

    Only Virat Kohli (567 at 43.61) has managed more IPL runs vs CSK as a designated skipper.

    Meanwhile, Rohit is the only captain with seven-plus wins vs CSK in IPL (12).

    Historical performance

    Overall in his IPL career, Rohit has taken on CSK 34 times and scored 896 runs at an average of 29.86 and a strike rate of 129.29. This includes seven fifties besides a ton.

    Only Shikhar Dhawan (1,057) and Kohli (1,053) boast more runs against the Yellow Brigade.

    Rohit's best performance against CSK came during the 2024 edition of the IPL when he scored an impressive 105 off just 63 balls, albeit in a losing cause.

    IPL finals 

    His returns in IPL finals vs CSK 

    Rohit has played three IPL finals vs CSK, all as captain. Moreover, he powered his team to glory on all three occasions.

    He was dismissed for just two runs in the summit clash of the 2013 event. The 2015 final saw him score a Player-of-the-Match winning 50 off just 26 balls.

    The veteran opener made 15 off 14 balls in the 2019 final.
