    What's the story

Brazilian superstar Neymar would be breathing a sigh of relief after the prosecutors asked Brazilian police to close the alleged rape case against him.

Last month, police had closed the case against Neymar citing lack of evidence against the footballer.

However, the prosecutors had 15 days to appeal against the decision, which now they have accepted.

    Here's more.

    Quote

"What happened between four walls is impossible to know"

"What happened between four walls is impossible to know, we have her word against his. We have decided to ask for the closure of the case," prosecutor Flavia Merlini was quoted as saying to the reporters on Thursday.

    The story

Brazilian woman accused Neymar of raping her in a hotel

In the month of May, Brazilian woman Najila Trindade accused Neymar of raping her in a hotel in Paris.

Neymar categorically denied the allegations by releasing a video of his WhatsApp interaction with the woman.

However, it further blew up the issue as the video was released without her consent, possibly breaking the Brazilian law.

The issue hampered his preparations for the Copa America.

    Allegations

Najila asserts she is a victim, slams police as corrupt

During an interview with a Brazilian Tv channel, Najila firmly asserted that she was a victim of assault and rape by Neymar, accusing him of "aggression together with rape".

As Neymar denied the allegations to the cops, Najila slammed the police, saying that they were corrupt.

"The police are bought, aren't they? Or am I crazy?" he said to SBT channel during the interview.

    Information

Final ruling to be made by a judge

As the case draws to a closure, the prosecutor's verdict means that Neymar would be deemed innocent and is free to restart his football duties. The final ruling regarding the closure of the case would be done by a judge in the coming days.

As of now, Neymar is reportedly unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

He has not been able to make the desired impact at the French capital, while he has remained mostly injury prone, as the club has missed his services on a lot of occasions.

Meanwhile, he is trying to force a move back to Barcelona. However, there hasn't been any concrete development on it.
