    Defending champion

    Chopra enters as defending champion

In 2021 (Tokyo 2020 Games), Chopra became only the second Indian to clinch an individual gold medal at the Olympics after former shooter Abhinav Bindra.

A throw of 87.58m in the men's javelin throw final helped Indian enter the record books.

Chopra, also the reigning world champion, recently bagged the gold medal in the Federation Cup 2024.

    Information

    What is the qualifying mark?

As per the rules, athletes with the qualifying mark of 84.00m will make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics men's javelin throw final. At least 12 athletes will feature in the final.

    Rivals

    A look at his rivals

Although Chopra is the reigning champion, he will face a tough competition from his rivals.

Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch. Grenada's Anderson Peters, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, and Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago among others will challenge Chopra.

Germany's Max Dehning, who hit a record-breaking mark of 90.20m, is also in the mix.
