    What's the story

Nat Sciver-Brunt produced an incredible all-round show as the Mumbai Indians registered a resounding eight-wicket victory over UP Warriorz in match 11 of the Women's Premier League.

The match was held in Bengaluru, where Sciver-Brunt's brilliance with both bat and ball helped her side chase down the target of 143 with 18 balls to spare.

She took three wickets and scored an unbeaten 75 off 44 balls.

    Game progression

Warriorz's initial efforts overshadowed by Mumbai Indians's comeback

Despite a promising start from the UP Warriorz, with Grace Harris scoring a rapid 45 and Vrinda Dinesh contributing a steady 33, the team's performance faltered.

They lost eight wickets for just 54 runs, resulting in an underwhelming total score.

In contrast, Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews of Mumbai Indians built a robust 133-run partnership for the second wicket, simplifying their chase.

    Winning streak

    Sciver-Brunt's boundary-filled knock secures Mumbai Indians's win

Despite Matthews's early struggles, she scored a 50-ball 59. However, it was Sciver-Brunt's boundary-laden knock that sealed the Mumbai Indians's victory.

This is their third win in four attempts and they sit atop the table with six points from four matches.

Meanwhile, UP Warriorz now sit fourth on the points table with two wins after five games.

    Record breaker

Sciver-Brunt surpasses Perry as leading run-scorer in WPL 2025

With 252 runs in four matches, Sciver-Brunt has now overtaken Ellyse Perry's 235 to become the leading run-scorer of this WPL.

She displayed her batting prowess early on when Mumbai Indians were at a precarious 6 for 1 in the fourth over.

Despite Chinelle Henry's challenging bowling, Sciver-Brunt quickly proved her mettle by scoring off just five balls.

Overall, Sciver-Brunt has raced to 758 runs in the WPL at 47.37 (50s: 6).

    Batting strategy

Sciver-Brunt's strategic batting outplays Warriorz's bowlers

Sciver-Brunt showed her strategic batting skills by welcoming Saima Thakor with a hat-trick of fours in the sixth over.

She used her bottom hand well and deftly directed the ball on both sides of the pitch.

Be it width on offer or short length, she responded with fierce cuts and pulls, outplaying the Warriorz's bowlers.

    Bowling performance

Mumbai Indians's bowling duo stifle Warriorz's scoring

Amelia Kerr gave Mumbai Indians the first breakthrough by getting rid of Harris.

Thereafter, Sanskriti Gupta and Kerr curtailed the batting side's run-rate.

Although Shweta Sehrawat top-scored among the middle-order batters with a 13-ball 19, Henry and Ecclestone couldn't contribute much.

This bowling display was instrumental in Mumbai Indians's win over UP Warriorz.

    Information

3rd fifty for Matthews in WPL

Matthews' 50-ball 59 was laced with 7 fours and two sixes. She struck at 118. Matthews has surpassed 500 WPL runs in her career. She owns 542 runs at 24.63. This was her 3rd fifty in WPL.
