    What's the story

    Bhuvneshwar Kumar powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a one-run win against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.

    Bhuvneshwar defended 13 runs in the final over. He dismissed Rovman Powell when two were required off the last ball.

    Notably, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in the first over itself. He equaled Trent Boult in terms of wickets in an IPL innings's first over.

    Trent Boult: 27 wickets

    Before this match, Rajasthan Royals' Trent Boult held the record for taking the most first-over wickets in the IPL.

    He owns 27 such wickets in 88 innings at an average of 17.51. It is worth noting that no other overseas player has more than 11 wickets in this regard.

    Lasith Malinga and Dale Steyn follow Boult with 11 scalps each.

    Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 27 wickets

    By dismissing both Buttler and Samson in the first over, Bhuvneshwar equaled Boult's record of taking 27 wickets.

    The Indian seamer has done this across 119 innings and averages 22.03 in this regard.

    Notably, no other Indian player has more than 15 first-over wickets in the IPL as of now.

    Interestingly, Bhuvneshwar's tally includes as many as 466 dot balls.

    Praveen Kumar: 15 wickets

    Former Indian bowler Praveen Kumar, who swung the ball both ways, follows Bhuvneshwar on this tally with 15 wickets.

    He perturbed the greatest of batters with his uncanny movement off the pitch.

    Praveen has bowled the first over 89 times and averaged 29.93 in this regard.

    He has a healthy economy rate of 5.04, a tally includes 339 dot balls.

    Deepak Chahar: 13 wickets

    Chennai Super Kings' Deepak Chahar has also taken plenty of wickets in the IPL by swinging the ball early on.

    In his early days, Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave him the required confidence to deliver the goods in the Powerplay.

    This has resulted in Chahar taking 13 first-over wickets in the IPL.

    While Chahar's economy rate reads 6.48, he has bowled 260 dot balls.
