    What's the story

    India's spinners dominated New Zealand in the 2025 Champions Trophy final, sharing five wickets and bowling 38 overs.

    This is the second-most overs of spin by a team in a Champions Trophy match.

    This also marked the third-most spin overs India have bowled in an ODI, helping restrict NZ to 251/7.

    Here are instances of India bowling the highest number of spin overs.

    41.2 vs West Indies, Indore, 2011

    In the fourth ODI of WI tour of India (2011), India bowled 41.2 overs of spin—the most by India in an ODI, defending a 419-run target.

    Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (1/59 in 10), Ravindra Jadeja (3/24 in 10), Rohit Sharma (0/39 in 5), Rahul Sharma (3/43 in 10), and Suresh Raina (2/17 in 6.2) shared nine wickets.

    With this, WI were bowled out for 265.

    39 vs Kenya, Gwalior, 1998

    In the sixth match of the Coca-Cola Triangular Series in 1998, India bowled 39 overs of spin—their second-most in ODIs.

    As per ESPNcricinfo, the spinners were Rahul Dravid (6 overs), Anil Kumble (8), Nilesh Kulkarni (10), Sachin Tendulkar (5), and Nikhil Chopra (10), collectively taking three wickets.

    Despite this, Kenya posted 265/5 and later bowled India out for 196, securing a 69-run victory

    38 vs NZ, Dubai, CT 2025 Final

    As mentioned, India bowled 38 overs of spin in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.

    This is the third-most spin overs by India in ODIs.

    The spinners shared five wickets, with Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) leading the attack in their full quotas.

    Jadeja contributed 1/30 (10 overs), while Axar Patel remained wicketless but conceded 29 runs (eight overs).

    37.3 vs NZ, Dubai, CT 2025

    India bowled the third-most spin overs in an ODI innings during their 2025 Champions Trophy group stage match against NZ, delivering 37.3 overs.

    The spinners claimed nine wickets, with Chakravarthy leading with 5/42 (10 overs).

    Kuldeep followed with 2/56 (9.3 overs), while Axar and Jadeja picked up one wicket each in 10 and eight overs, respectively, as NZ fell for 205 while chasing 250.
