What life lessons can we learn from Cristiano Ronaldo?

    What's the story

There is no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the biggest sporting icons in the world today.

He is at the pinnacle of his football career, inspiring millions to achieve greater heights.

As the Portuguese superstar gets ready for a new challenge in the Serie A, we take a look at some of the most valuable lessons to be learnt from Ronaldo's life.

    No pain, no gain

Talent needs to be complemented with hard work

Ronaldo has all the skills, which a footballer needs.

While some say, he is a 'God-gifted talent', others think it's his rigorous training that has made him the greatest-ever.

Rooney was considered a better player than Ronaldo when they had signed for United.

But Ronaldo put in 4 hours of training daily, after team sessions, and we can say that hard work has paid-off.

    No backing down

    Never give up attitude

Have you ever seen Cristiano Ronaldo giving up?

No matter what obstacle he faces, Ronaldo is up for every challenge.

Be it competing against Lionel Messi for the Ballon d'Or or single-handedly shouldering the task of guiding Portugal to glory, Ronaldo lives for these challenges.

In his own words, "We don't want to tell our dreams. We want to show them."

    Golden heart

    His kindness and generosity

Ronaldo might live for glory on the field, but off the field, he is one of football's most humble players.

From frequently meeting his fans to giving away thousands of pounds in charity, Ronaldo has won the hearts of several people across the globe.

CR7 refrains from consuming alcohol and has no tattoos because he is a regular blood donor.

    Value relationships

    Respect for peers and family

Ronaldo did not become a great footballer all by himself.

He had his coaches, friends and family to support him.

Sir Alex played a huge role and Ronaldo has acknowledged this fact a couple of times.

Ronaldo is a great father as well as a great son to his mother.

He even broke up with Irina since she had a problem with his mother.

    Learning opportunity

    How he handles criticism

Being one of the best footballers, on earth, comes with a price.

Ronaldo has faced criticism throughout his life.

However, he has not let it impact him, instead, he has used it to improve.

He never gets disheartened by his critics but tries hard to prove them wrong.

He once said, "Your love makes me strong, your hate makes me unstoppable."

    Ronaldo is a true champion

In December 2004, Tsunami destroyed half of southeast Asia.

A young boy, who had lost everything, was wearing a jersey with the name Ronaldo. After 19-year-old Ronaldo got to know this, he located the boy and made sure he was taken care of.

Today, the Indonesian boy is a part of the Sporting Lisbon academy, where Ronaldo began his career.

    A true champion indeed!
