KKR and RR find a unique way to name skippers

    What's the story

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are all set to announce their captains in a unique way.

The two franchises will announce their captains for IPL 11 live on television instead of a press conference.

While Rajasthan Royals will name their skipper today, Kolkata Knight Riders will announce it on March 4.

    Big candidates

Both teams have quality on their ranks

While RR have the likes of Ben Stokes who was the biggest buy at the IPL auctions for Rs 12.5 crore, they also have Australian Captain Steven Smith and Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane on their ranks.

KKR on the other hands haven't bought an obvious captaincy candidate but he likes of Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa are up for the task.

    Quote

Rahane or Smith, who will captain the Royals?

"A captain is instrumental to create a culture within the team. We indeed have some great choices...Ben Stokes, Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith who bring leadership values with them. Jos Buttler too has capabilities to lead a team," RR mentor Shane Warne said.

    Data

IPL 2018 to begin from April 4

The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League is set to kick off from April 4 with defending champions, Mumbai Indians taking on two-time winners Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

    Quote

Uthappa, DK or Lynn, who will be KKR's captain?

"Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik are captaincy material. Whether they will opt for Chris Lynn is a question because not many teams appoint a foreign captain. However, the franchise must give the new captain stability like how they gave to Gautam Gambhir," Sourav Ganguly said.
